“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets”

(Matthew 7:12 – NLT).

The barber shop was filled with men fat and thin,

They laughed and made fun of how this guy got turned in,

“He been stealin from his job for years” was the cry,

Ray said but for God’s grace there go I.

Walking through the mall was a company of three,

Tongues wagging fast, faces lit up with glee,

“Humph! Singing in the choir now her belly puff up high”,

Cindy said but for God’s grace there go I.

At the luncheon today many people were there,

Harsh words about the fallen preacher filled the air,

“He should know better”, “He deserves to die”,

Phil said but for God’s grace there go I.

In the cafeteria at work some ladies were squawking,

Near the water cooler another crew were gawking,

“Das good, he too slick an he too like to lie”,

Bernice said but for God’s grace there go I.

Ray, Cindy, Phil and Bernice are all very wise,

They look at other’s faults through humble eyes,

Whenever they learn what someone else has done,

They’re not quick to judge and hold out a gun.

So if you hear of a person who takes a great fall,

Before commenting from a high horse check your life first of all,

For if you are honest you too will sigh,

And say but for God’s grace there go I.

“Judge not, that you be not judged.  For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)

“Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles or is overthrown, Lest the Lord see it and it be evil in His eyes and displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him [to expend it upon you, the worse offender].”

(Proverbs 24:17, 18 – Amplified Bible)

“BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also.”

(Galatians 6:1 – Amplified Bible)

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

(I Corinthians 10:12 – NIV)
