NOTEWORTHY QUOTE 3
The following is a statement quoted from John Wesley (17th June 1703 – 2nd March, 1791) the founder of Methodism.
“Above all sing spiritually. Have an eye to God in every word you sing. Aim at pleasing him more than yourself, or any other creature. In order to do this attend strictly to the sense of what you sing, and see that your heart is not carried away with the sound, but offered to God continually; so shall your singing be such as the Lord will approve here, and reward you when he cometh in the clouds of heaven.”
“And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips but remove their hearts and minds far from Me, and their fear and reverence for Me are a commandment of men that is learned by repetition [without any thought as to the meaning],”
(Isaiah 29:13 – Amplified Bible)
“These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me.”
(Matthew 15:8 – Amplified Bible)
