DON’T LET THE ENEMY SHUT YOUR MOUTH
When God gives us an assignment, He metaphorically tells us to “get in the ship and go to the other side” and it is not uncommon for contrary winds and violent storms to arise once we are on the way.
God says you are to minister to married couples to help their marriages grow stronger. You are sailing along carrying out your assignment to strengthen marriages then the winds begin to blow contrary and BAM a storm hits your marriage…..you find out your spouse is having an affair.
The enemy MOCKS at you – “HERE YOU ARE SPEAKING TO PEOPLE ABOUT HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE AND YOURS IS FALLING APART? – YOU NEED TO SHUT UP!”
God says you are to minister to parents to show them how to raise godly children. You are sailing along carrying out your assignment then the winds begin to blow contrary and BAM a storm hits….your unmarried daughter gets pregnant and your son gets arrested for possession of dangerous drugs with intention to supply.
The enemy ACCUSES you – “HOW CAN YOU BE TELLING PEOPLE HOW TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN AND YOURS ARE MAKING BAD DECISIONS AND ACTING OUT OF ORDER? – YOU NEED TO SHUT UP!”
God says teach my people how to manage their finances through the use of Kingdom principles. You are sailing along carrying out your assignment then the winds begin to blow contrary and BAM a storm hits your finances……you lose your house and you have difficulty meeting even your basic financial commitments.
The enemy TAUNTS you – “LOOK AT YOU…….JUST LOOK AT YOU……. TELLING PEOPLE HOW TO HANDLE THEIR FINANCES AND YOU CAN’T EVEN HANDLE YOUR OWN! – YOU NEED TO SHUT UP!”
God says to counsel others about finding and pursuing their life purpose. You are sailing along carrying out your assignment then the winds begin to blow contrary and BAM a storm hits your life…..you have no sense of direction for your own life anymore and don’t know which way to turn or what to do.
The enemy SCOFFS at you – “HOW CAN YOU BE TELLING PEOPLE HOW TO FIND AND PURSUE THEIR LIFE PURPOSE AND YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO HANDLE YOUR OWN LIFE SITUATION? – YOU NEED TO SHUT UP!“
Many times after accepting and beginning a God-given assignment, after “getting into the ship and obediently heading to the other side”, just like with the disciples in Matthew 14:24, when we are at the point of making significant progress, or when the “ship gets in the middle of the sea”, contrary, boisterous winds begin to blow and waves arise and beat violently against the ship tossing it and threatening to abort the mission.
Do you find yourself in a situation just like or similar to one mentioned above?
If so, in spite of the contrary winds and the violent storm, by God’s grace keep sailing to the other side.
It is the enemy’s desire for you to abandon your assignment, for you to “jump ship” and shut your mouth.
He wants to get you unfocused with his mockery, accusations, taunting and scoffing and weigh you down with guilt and condemnation to the point where you stop doing what God asked you to do and shut your mouth.
Instead, by God’s grace, square your spiritual shoulders, submit to God and resist him and according to James 4:7, he will flee from you.
God knew the winds and the storm would arise before He even gave you the assignment.
He knew about them before He even told you to “go to the other side” and He still told you to go because He knows that He is ultimately in control and He will get you there if you stay the course.
Do you have the faith in Him and in His ability to believe this?
Just like in Matthew 14 and Mark 4 when Jesus told the disciples to get in the ship and go to the other side and in spite of the contrary winds and the violent storm that arose He ensured that they got to the other side, He will do the same for you so don’t “jump ship” and don’t shut up.
Stay the course. Have faith in God and in His ability. Seek and obey His instructions and directions and in spite of what is raging around you, He will see you safely through to the other side
Don’t let the enemy shut your mouth.
