LOVIN SOME AFRICAN PRAISE

LOVIN SOME AFRICAN PRAISE

Psalm 150 – The Message Bible

Hallelujah!
Praise God in his holy house of worship,
praise him under the open skies;
Praise him for his acts of power,
praise him for his magnificent greatness;
Praise with a blast on the trumpet,
praise by strumming soft strings;
Praise him with castanets and dance,
praise him with banjo and flute;
Praise him with cymbals and a big bass drum,
praise him with fiddles and mandolin.
Let every living, breathing creature praise God!
Hallelujah!

MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, WE MUST PRAY FOR THOSE IN GOVERNMENT

MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, WE MUST PRAY FOR THOSE IN GOVERNMENT

DO YOU PRAY FOR YOUR GOVERNMENT?

DO YOU PRAY FOR YOUR GOVERNMENT?

Governments across the globe are struggling to find solutions to the plethora of complex issues that face them – overwhelming debt, a failing economy, increased crime and violence, rising unemployment, insufficient healthcare, shortages of food and water, social unrest, religious clashes, environmental disaster, worker dissatisfaction and labor disputes, mass demonstrations, political uprisings, moral decay and so much more.

Whether via the media, on the streets, at work, or at public or private social gatherings, it is not uncommon to hear Believers and non-believers alike express a barrage of criticism, dissatisfaction, disappointment, disillusionment and even disgust over the actions and/or inaction of some governing ruler or political party.

While responsible freedom of expression in regard to these issues has its rightful place, today I want to remind us as Believers in Christ and Kingdom Citizens to pray for those in authority over us and not just talk about what they are doing, not doing, could do, should do, etc.

“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how,  for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.”

(I Timothy 2:1-3 – The Message Bible)

Do you pray for those in authority in your nation or are you simply on the verbal bandwagon of expressed feelings and opinions all the while neglecting to pray for them?

When it comes to political and governmental issues, if we as Believers are not careful, we can find ourselves so caught up in talking that we forget to pray……let’s be on alert to not fall into that trap.

Remember, while our responsibly expressed feelings and opinions have their rightful place, our governmental leaders need our prayers more than ever, particularly those of the Faith.

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior.”

THE BAHAMIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM – “MARCH ON,  BAHAMALAND” BY ANGELIQUE SABRINA

“MARCH ON, BAHAMALAND”

Bahamian National Anthem
Composed by the late, Timothy Gibson

Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahamaland;
March on to glory, your bright banners waving high.

See how the world marks the manner of your bearing!
Pledge to excel through love and unity.
Pressing onward, march together
to a common loftier goal;

Steady sunward, tho’ the weather
hide the wide and treachrous shoal.

Lift up your head to the rising sun, Bahamaland,
‘Til the road you’ve trod lead unto your God,

MARCH ON, BAHAMALAND.

“God-devotion makes a country strong;
God-avoidance leaves people weak.”

(Proverbs 14:34 – The Message Bible)

Father may Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth in the Bahamas as it is in heaven….Amen.

GOD’S LAW TRANSCENDS HUMAN LAW

GOD’S LAW TRANSCENDS HUMAN LAW

GOD'S LAW SHALL PREVAIL

“GOD’S LAW SHALL PREVAIL”

I wrote the following post in December of 2012 and in view of the rising trend of humans legislating what is right in their own eyes as opposed to what is right in God’s eyes, I thought it would be good to post it again.

Be challenged.

Be blessed.

GOD’S LAW VS. HUMAN LAW

If God’s Law declares something to be wrong,

no human legislation can make it right.

A popular or majority vote means nothing in the eyes of God.

If every human being on this planet votes in favor of an activity or behavior deemed wrong by God,

and every nation of the earth passes laws to support the same,

in God’s eyes, that activity or behavior is still wrong and He will judge it accordingly.

Be not deceived.

No matter what man declares as right,

if God says it is wrong, it is wrong.

“All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.”

(Psalms 119:160)

“Long ago I learned from your statutes
 that you established them to last forever.”

(Psalms 119:152)

Let each person who has an ear hear what the Spirit of God is saying to the Church.

SELAH!

Be encouraged,

Kim

A TRIBUTE TO ANDRAE CROUCH

A TRIBUTE TO ANDRAE CROUCH

ANDRAE CROUCH

ANDRAE CROUCH (JULY 1, 1942 – JANUARY 8, 2015)

Andrae Crouch went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8th.

As a child I can remember hearing and loving so many of his songs “Jesus is the Answer”, “I Don’t Know Why Jesus Loved Me”, “Soon and Very Soon”, “My Tribute (To God Be The Glory)”, “Take Me Back”, “Through It All”, “The Blood Will Never Lose It’s Power”, “Bless His Holy Name”, ‘It Won’t Be Long” and so many, many more.

I did not see Andrae Crouch as an entertainer, or a musical artist but as an incredibly gifted minister spreading God’s Word through song.

His songs are timeless, still ministering to the hearts and spirits of people all over the world today though many were written decades ago.

Today, I thank God for the life of Andrae Crouch and for his willingness to faithfully share the gifts that God placed in him to edify the Body of Christ and as a witness of Jesus to the world.

Here are three of his earlier songs that have blessed me over the years; I hope they will bless you too.

JESUS IS THE ANSWER

I DON’T KNOW WHY JESUS LOVED ME

THE BLOOD WILL NEVER LOSE IT’S POWER

“Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.”

(Psalms 105:2 – KJV)

CHRISTMAS IS OUR BIG EVENT – LET’S CELEBRATE ANYWAY!

CHRISTMAS IS OUR BIG EVENT – LET’S CELEBRATE ANYWAY!

CHRISTMAS IS OUR BIG EVENT - LET'S CELEBRATE

CHRISTMAS IS OUR BIG EVENT – LET’S CELEBRATE!

CELEBRATE – “to do something special or enjoyable for an important event, occasion, holiday, etc., to praise (someone or something) to say that (someone or something) is great or important.”

(http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/celebrate)

I don’t know if it’s only me, but I sense a different spirit in the atmosphere in the Bahamas this Christmas; it’s not the usual light-hearted, happy, celebratory feeling in the air.

It’s almost like there is a sinister blend of fear, anxiety and uncertainty hovering over our nation threatening to snuff out or at best minimize our usual joyous Christmas celebrations.

Maybe it’s a kind of “national post traumatic syndrome” as we as a people are left in the traumatic wake of so much crime, violence, rape, murder, and tragedy in 2014………or maybe it’s the residual effects of the lawlessness, political snafus, new immigration policy, labor unrest and unemployment.

Perhaps it’s the lingering frustration of heavy traffic, dropped phone calls, power outages, low water pressure and rising food prices……..or perhaps it’s the general uneasiness about the impending implementation of  7.5% VAT on January 1st, the proposed constitutional changes and the diminishing trust in the efficacy of our leaders at large.

More that likely it’s a combination of all the above………and more.

No matter where you are, if you are sensing a difference in the atmosphere today and not the usual Christmas cheer, don’t bow to it and let it get you down or dampen your spirit.

Instead, I urge you to decide that as a Believer, you will not focus on what is happening around you but will set and keep your mind on Jesus, the reason for the season.

He is our Lord, our Savior, our Master, and our King and it is His birth that we are commemorating at this time of year so let’s purpose to joyously and gratefully celebrate it as best we can no matter what is going on around us or in our personal lives.

Whatever we focus on becomes magnified so more than ever before, this Christmas season, let’s focus on Jesus’ birth and what it really means to us as Believers and celebrate.

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

(Isaiah 9:6-7 – NKJV)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

(John 3:16, 17 – NKJV)

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

(John 10:10 – NKJV)

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

(I John 3:8 – NKJV)

“……just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

(Matthew 20:28 – NKJV)

Christmas is our BIG EVENT….in spite of what’s going on, LET’S CELEBRATE ANYWAY!!

Be encouraged!

A MESSAGE FROM A GIRL ON THE STREET

A MESSAGE FROM A GIRL ON THE STREET

THE COCOON OF MY CIRCUMSTANCES IS BROKEN!

THE COCOON OF MY CIRCUMSTANCES IS BROKEN!

Because I don’t look like you smell like you walk like you talk like you,

run with you, hang with you, eat with you bang with you,

dress like you, sit like you, impress like you, fit like you,

You scorn and you judge and you look down on me,

But there’s more so much more than your eyes can see.

We’ve not been dealt the same hand in life,

yours is smooth mine is rough filled with misery and strife,

your parents you knew, mine I only knew of,

what you needed was there, mine trickled in with no love.

You scorn and you judge and you look down on me,

But there’s more so much more than your eyes can see.

Look closer and you’ll see purpose encased in my mess,

A glimmer of hope radiating through all of my stress,

Like a butterfly from a cocoon one day I’ll be free,

And fly gracefully to the flower of my destiny.

You scorn and you judge and you look down on me,

But there’s more so much more than your eyes can see.

There’s so much more than your eyes can see.

Look!
